Sunscreen are-a) covering skin with clothes; b) SPF creams; c) mask etc.

In fact, wearing it, in today’s busy schedule of lifestyle both for men and women, is a bare necessity of our daily skincare routine.  Actually, without using it, we will expose our tender skin particularly our face to damage due to sunlight.

Benefits of using it are as follows: –

1)         Retains Skin Complexion– Because sunburn is the main cause of losing skin tone, mainly face. Therefore, regular use of it to an uncovered area of our skin, mainly face, protects our sensitive skin.

2)         Protects from Sunrays– As sunlight reflects harmful UV rays, that causes sunburns, so it damages our skin, mainly face and triggers various skin disorders. Because SPF cream creates a layer which UV rays cannot penetrate, therefore, the face remains safe.

3)         Delays signs of ageing -Actually we all want young, glowing, tanned and healthy face. Exposer in Sunlight helps to develop fine lines and wrinkles. Indeed, Sun cream protects from signs of ageing.

4)         Decreases Risk of Skin Cancer–  Dangerous UV rays may cause even various types of skin cancer, especially melanoma. It may cause life risk too. Daily use of it helps to prevent skin cancer.

5)         Glowing Skin– Besides, it protects the damage of keratin which is mainly responsible to maintain smoothness and health of the skin. Therefore, it glows and looks beautiful and flawless.

At the first instance, we must remember one thing that these are a combination of several ingredients which aids to stop ultraviolet (UV) radiation to penetrate the tiny holes of the skin and damage it.

Most importantly UVA and UVB are the two ultraviolet rays that harm human skin. UVA rays penetrate deep into the skin layers and cause wrinkles and sag and drooping and leather etc. Moreover, it also worsens the cancer-causing outcomes of UVB rays. Besides UVB is the principal cause of sunburn.

The term SPF stands for Sun Protection Formula. There are various SPF creams, for example, SPF 15, SPF 20, SPF 30 or SPF 50. You multiply the factor with 20 minutes. For instance, 50X20 minutes=1000minute i.e. almost 16 hours. Therefore, you can use it for whole day protection.

We will decide sunscreen cream depending on how long you will stay outside or in sunlight.

We may think another way. Most importantly SPF 15 is able to filter out around 93% of ultraviolet radiation while SPF 30 protects 97% and SPF 50 does 98%. The differences may seem to be negligible but, if we are light-sensitive, or already have a skin cancer history, then the extra percentages will mark a huge difference. And as we can see, no sunscreen can block all UV rays.

Therefore, the best way to apply SPF is to choose the highest factor of SPF available in the market.

As it is cold or cloudy outside, so need not sunscreen! Around 40% of the sun’s ultraviolet ray reaches the earth even in a densely cloudy day. The confusion may lead to sunburns if we spend all day outdoors without using sunscreen.

Anybody above six months may use sunscreen:

Even if we work inside still we are exposed to UV rays for short-term periods throughout the day, especially if we work near windows.

Before choosing it we have to anticipate total hours of sun exposure.  Always try to use a broad-range of it to guard the fatal UVA and UVB rays.

Nowadays some after-shave lotions and moisturizers contain sunscreen (minimum SPF 15 or more) and it is adequate for some minutes of sun exposure for daily activities. However, if we work totally or substantial hours’ outdoors, then we should use more strong sunscreen cream that holds together on our skin.

Moreover, remember that it vanishes with sweat. If we wash our face it will also wash out. Besides for various reasons the sunscreen cream fades within 2-3 hours if we are working outside. Therefore, we have to reapply it over our face without washing our face even if we are using SPF50.

Most importantly first apply it after the bath when we have sponge well. Rub it generously to all exposed area, mainly face neck or upper part of our back, hands and arms. Use around 1 ounce (30 grams) at a time.

Stay at home for at least 15-20 minutes. It will be better if we stay for 30 minutes. This time we either must not sweat or apply water. Only then our sunscreen cream will be useful. If we do anything else, it will be of no use.

We should reapply it instantly after swimming, sponging or sweating a great deal.

Because our skin may be oily, normal or dry. Sunscreens are available in many forms, e.g., cream, lotion, gel, stick, spray, lip balm. Therefore, choose them that suits our skin type.

We must use sunscreen creams on the skin only. Follow the guidelines printed over the product package. If we have doubt consult our doctor.

Use lip balm to our lips area only.

Be careful, it should not contact our eyes. If it gets into the eyes, rinse thoroughly with water.

Apply carefully and avoid using on the irritated skin (acne)

If we have developed severe sunburns or any medical problem, consult the dermatologist.

If it creates redness or irritation, wash it and stop using it. Consult the doctor or may use sunscreen of different ingredients.

If we have any allergic problem consult doctor.
